RequestTrace

The product presented here is called RequestTrace. It’s a freeware utility that will enable you to trace I/O request packets, also referred to as IRP. Now, this is an application for advanced computer users and developers as it deals with the communication of your computer’s drivers with the Windows operating system with IRPs being kernel mode structures used for that communication.

RequestTrace provides you a clean graphical user interface enabling you to select the driver class to be traced from the list presented on the left side and the hooked devices will be displayed in the middle pane. For each device trace options can be specified.

Note that all output can be visualised through any debugger, such as WinDbg, SoftIce or DebugView for instance.
