"Uniform presentation for various file systems"
Written By
Apache Commons VFS

The freeware download presented here is called Apache Commons VFS. VFS stands for Virtual File System and basically, this Apache project provides a single application programming interface (API) that will enable multiple different file systems to be accessed, resulting in a uniform view or presentation of the sources. The latter can be the content of a ZIP archive, files located on an HTTP server or on a local hard disk drive (HDD), just to mention some.

Apache Commons VFS requires Java and you should also be aware of the fact the file systems you want to access might need to have optional components to be present for the protocol to be enabled.

Now, if interested in finding out more details about this Apache project, consider proceeding to the free download to access its documentation and to start implementing it.
