A DNS (Domain Name System) server is a hierarchical distributed naming system whose purpose is to link domain names with their unique IP addresses. For example, when you enter www.yahoo.com, you use your ISP's DNS servers to translate www.yahoo.com into 98.139.183.24, which is the IP of one of Yahoo's servers. Avira DNS-Repair-Tool is an application released by the Avira family to restore the DNS settings of your computer.
DNSChanger was a malware that changed your DNS settings to redirect you to servers controlled by hackers. Luckily, now those servers are controlled by the FBI and they are not operative, meaning they won't redirect you to any website. Instead of changing settings manually, you can use Avira DNS-Repair-Tool. If your computer has not been infected, then using this application will have no effect.
